RestaurantBags.com offers biodegradable additives to help plastic bags start biodegrading in 9 months without sacrificing their recyclability.

In response to the varied needs of the restaurant market and its communities, RestaurantBags.com offers the Encore™ biodegradable additives to help plastic bags start biodegrading in 9 months while maintaining their recyclability. Plastic bags with biodegradable additives will biodegrade anywhere that degradation occurs, addressing litter, marine debris and landfill issues. Since the additive is not dependent on heat, light or moisture, it will continue to breakdown into natural elements of carbon dioxide, water and humus like elements when the degradation stage is activated by micro-organisms like bacteria (anaerobically and aerobically degradable).

According to Encore™ developer, Command Packaging president Pete Grande, “The media and politicians would like us to believe that there is one simple answer that will fix our problem, but that is not the case. If diverting plastic from the landfill is your main focus, our bags are made with recycled material. In some markets, like San Francisco, they are encouraging more composting which requires a bag that will degrade in a composting environment. Still others are concerned with litter and want bags that will degrade faster if they are not disposed of properly.” The Encore™ biodegradable additive addresses all these environmental issues without sacrificing the restaurants' operational and budgeting needs.

Encore™ carry-out bags are available in all four of RestaurantBags.com styles: Ameritote™, Super Wave™, T-shirt, and Catering Corner bags designed to fit most carry-out containers. All bags are manufactured in the United States, using environmentally friendly colorants and water-based inks.

When asked whether this latest need would impact carry-out bags, Grande responded, “Restaurants always face challenges from changing market demands. Selecting a functional, environmentally friendly, and affordable carry-out bag should not be one of them. We created a carry-out bag company focused on designing solutions for restaurants that need to fit odd sized containers into bags. Eighteen years later our approach hasn't changed, today we're still addressing the needs of our customers, they just happen to be environmentally driven.”

More information and samples of the Encore™ environmental bags will be available at the upcoming events or simply give us a call at 866.705.2247.
