Gift cards, why they are a must...
You can buy it almost anywhere. It makes for a terrific gift. You probably have one in your wallet or purse right now. Naturally, I am referring to the exponentially popular...gift card. And if you aren't selling them, maybe it's time you start.
These are a plethara of advantages that a gift card provides. None being more important as a “brand” reminder. In other words, the card is a miniature billboard for companies that are smart enough to utilize it.
Each time the card-holder comes across it, he or she unconsciously associate the message of the company with the brand or logo. The consumer is reminded of their favorite meal and then decide to make a return trip, after all, they have money to burn on the card and very often, they spend more than what is on the card.
Another bountiful bonus to the card, that is rarely mentioned, is that card holders don't always use the full value of the card. The card is misplaced many times. In these instances, the restaurant's rewards become two fold. Not only was payment received in full, no service had to be provided. This obviously will pay dividends towards your bottom line.
In addition, when a gift card is received, a correlation is made. The giftee associates his or her joy for receiving a gift with the brand. The gift-giver, outside of a few Scrooges, then associates the happy feelings with the brand.
According to a survey among restaurant gift-card recipients, nearly 97 percent hope to receive gift cards again. While nearly 70 percent of gift-card purchasers said they believed the cards to be a better choice than regular gifts.
The gift card is quickly becoming the most popular gift. It is easy to use, provides a great service and relieves a lot of Christmas shoppers' stress.
In December 2006, McDonalds totaled over $40 million in sales with gift cards. Perhaps you contributed to that total and their profits. Perhaps it's time others contribute to yours.
